About Richard

Richard Ballard, formerly professional at Forest Hills Golf Club and previously assistant professional at Ludlow Golf Club, joined as our Professional in December 2008.

Richard Ballard was born December 1973 in Hereford and has lived in and around the county all his life.

Richard started his P.G.A training at Ludlow G.C in Shropshire following short spells at Hereford Driving Range and Woodlake Park in Usk.
After a couple of seasons playing full time Richard was appointed club professional at Forest Hills G.C in the Forest of Dean.
During the ten years as club professional he continued to enjoy playing in regional tournaments but developed a thriving teaching business which has seen many standards of golfer seek his professional opinion from Tour pro’s to total beginners.

In 2004 Richard took over the running of the driving range opposite Forest Hills G.C namely the RB Golf Range and Teaching Academy at first somewhere to develop the teaching business but somewhere now offering a professional friendly service in all aspects of the golfers requirements.

Richards approach to coaching golf is a simple one, he only ever works on one or at most two things during a lesson, “I like to keep things as clear and concise as possible, this enables the pupil to learn quickly without the clutter”.
During his time teaching golf Richard has seen many of his pupils excel at golf and some of them even going on to develop into Professional Golfers themselves.

In 2008 Richard became the Head Professional here at Monmouth Golf Club in Monmouthshire.
This opportunity has enabled him to offer a full range of golfing goods to the members at Monmouth Golf Club as well as a comprehensive coaching and custom fitting scheme run from both Monmouth Golf Club and the driving range.
